Manufacturing and materials expertise for a sustainable future

We have always been passionate technological pioneers. The more challenging the task, the stronger our will to master it successfully. The road to carbon neutrality offers a technology-driven company numerous opportunities to leverage its expertise to achieve this goal – in our processes, in our products, and when we advise customers.

Exploring the limits of what is possible and using innovative ideas to push them further and further is what drives us. This is also exactly what we’re doing when it comes to sustainability. Our production processes are a prime example – in the future, green hydrogen will be an important fuel for us, which is why we have already adapted lines specifically for this purpose .

In order to manufacture high-performance products at scale, we require state-of-the-art production technology. This particularly applies to materials used in innovative products for the energy revolution, such as highly permeable electrical steel strip for generators in wind turbines or very thin stainless precision steel strip for hydrogen-based fuel cells. In many cases, the special design and ongoing advancement of our production lines on the basis of our extensive expertise is what makes it possible to achieve the particular performance of a material in the first place.

Manufacturing sustainable material solutions not only requires a change in metallurgical processes, but also a corresponding development environment among steel processors. That's why, in addition to our production and processing systems, we’ve also made targeted investments in materials technology and quality assurance – for example, we have a scanning electron microscope with extensive analysis capabilities that accelerate development processes with the aim of achieving the shortest possible time to market for products used in new applications.

Production Sustainability: The potential of innovative production processes

When it comes to sustainable production processes, it isn’t just about conserving energy and resources and avoiding emissions. Our production lines and processes are what make the high-performance materials possible in the first place – materials that are essential to the energy revolution. / more
