André Sereno presents award for best scientific work
In October 2018, Waelzholz Brasmetal participated in the 18th ABM Week in São Paulo, Brazil as a sponsor. The ABM (Associação Brasileira de Metalurgia, Materiais e Mineração, English: Brazilian Association for Metallurgy, Materials, and Mining) is a professional association for technical and scientific developments and innovations in the field of metallurgy. In addition to many well-known, mainly Brazilian companies from the steel industry, Waelzholz Brasmetal is also a member of the association. The annual ABM Week is designed to highlight the scientific work of students and professionals who contribute to advances within the sector.
At the last ABM Week, the award sponsored by Waezholz Brasmetal for providing an introduction to scientific work went to three Brazilian materials science students. André Sereno, head of Exports and Materials Technology at Waelzholz Brasmetal, presented the young authors with the award for their work “Metalthermics.com – Web Reference Directory: Digitization of the Book ‘Thermodynamic Data for Metallurgists’”. The project involves the development of a computer-assisted system that lists findings from metallurgical and thermodynamic studies and thus simplifies the search for properties of materials and composites. Waelzholz Brasmetal could use this digital database in the future for the advancement and new development of tailor-made steel strip solutions.
The three authors were rewarded for their scientific work with a sum of money and a one-week internship at Waelzholz Brasmetal. Congratulations to the students on receiving this award!
